The Ross-on-Wye branch of Macmillan Cancer Support should have a much healthier bank balance when Councillor John Edwards ends his term as Mayor of Ross next week. Mayor Edwards chose Macmillan as his charity for the year and he and his Mayoress, Sue have held many events to raise funds for this very important cause, the latest of which was a picnic held in the grounds of Wilton Castle on Sunday.

Despite the weather not being at its best, people turned up to enjoy a picnic in the grounds, by kind permission of Sue and Alan Parsloe, where they were entertained by Ross Town Band and Ross Choristers. Mayor Edwards informed Wyenot News that around £400 had been raised by this event.
