12th May 2010 PHOTOMOTION: ARRIVING AT THE JKHS LEAVERS' BALL

Finding novel ways to arrive at the John Kyrle High School Leaver's Ball has become a tradition over the years. Many would arrive at the Chase Hotel by helicopter for example. Well, there were no helicopters on Friday, due to safety reasons, but the range of transport to the ball was still rather imaginative. There were tractors, trailers, vintage VW campers, a quad bike and a horse and carriage to name but a few and arriving at the ball appears to be as exciting as the ball itself.

The young ladies were all dressed beautifully and their Prince Charmings looked absolutely dashing in their DJ's and suits. As has become the custom, I was there on behalf of 'Wyenot' to cover the arrival of guests at the Chase Hotel. Usually, we run a few photographs but this year we have covered the event in a different way. Just a few photos can be seen on this page but below you can also watch a fast moving 'photomotion' film. This is not a straight video recording. It is a sequence made up of all 2,027 still images, shot on the evening and set to the song 'Designer Clothes', written and performed by local musician, Paul Randell.

I tried to capture everybody during the filming but a few arrivals did manage to slip through the net whilst I was changing settings on the camera. The sequence finishes with a shot of all arrivals though, so everybody should appear at some stage. I hope you enjoy watching.

Addition, 13th May: Ed Cinderey sent in a letter saying that he had enjoyed the video but wondered if I could add two more frames (supplied) as his group had not completed the full circuit on arrival. I sincerely apologize Ed, that I am unable to easily add two frames to the video due to the amount of work involved (the whole thing would need re-editing) but I have added the photos immediately below.
