Congratulations go to Councillor Jo Lane who was elected as Mayor of Ross-on-Wye on Monday, 10th May. Outgoing Mayor, Councillor John Edwards placed the Mayoral gown over Councillor Lane's shoulders then placed the Mayor's Chain of Office around her neck, wishing her every success for her term of office. Councillor Edwards then addressed the meeting which took place in the Larruperz Centre.

Councillor Edwards had worked extremely hard during his term as Ross Town Mayor, he was an instigator of the Ross Sports & Leisure Federation and actively supported the newly formed Association of Ross Traders, (ART). Councillor Edwards and his wife, Mayoress, Sue also raised approximately £15,000 for Ross Macmillan Cancer Support and presented Chair, Pauline McRae with a cheque, for which Macmillan are extremely grateful.

Councillor Edwards also made a presentation to Iris Price in recognition of all the voluntary work she does for the town of Ross-on-Wye. In closing, councillor Edwards said that he had thoroughly enjoyed his term as Mayor of Ross-on-Wye but was pleased to now be handing over this role to JO

Mayor Lane is a local person. She was born and brought up in Ross-on-Wye and she and her husband, Rob run a local business. Her well known father, the late Martin Morris had suffered from Macular Disease, so Mayor Lane's chosen charity for her term of office is the Macular Society.

'Wyenot News' would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Councillor John Edwards on an outstanding Term of Office and wish Mayor Lane all the very best for hers.
