Plans
for Ross Town Carnival 2010 are now well underway and this
year's event promises to be the biggest and best for many
years. Ross Town Mayor, Councillor Jo Lane will be travelling
in the procession using the same transport mode as last
year's Mayor, Councillor John Edwards; a double decker Routemaster
bus, the loan of which has been kindly donated by the bus
company.
Staff
from the new sweet shop, Tudor
Sweets will be joining in the fun this year and will
be giving away sweets to the children as they go around
the streets and the Police will be on duty to help with
the procession, making sure that it moves safely through
the streets and keeping a watchful eye out for people who
think that the 'Road Closed' signs don't apply to them.
On
the Carnival Field, which this year will again be situated
on the Ropewalk, there will be lots of attractions and activities
for the family to enjoy. There will also be displays from
the Forest of Dean Birds of Prey, the Majorettes and Ross
Razzmatazz and hopefully a sled dog display. If you enjoy
looking at cars, the popular Vintage Vehicle display will
be there too.
The
programme of events this year also includes a dog show with
a range of classes for your family pet to enter such as
the waggiest tail, the best tit bit catcher and many other
classes, the details of which can be found in the Carnival
Programme.
The
Carnival Committee look forward to seeing you all having
fun at Ross Carnival 2010. If you wouuld like a Carnival
Programme, they are available from Ross Library, Ross Heritage
Centre, the Tourist Information Centre and Lucas
Motorcycles.
