Other
than the florally decorated cider apple press by the stage,
it was quite difficult to imagine that the beautiful operatic
arias and choral music in the films below were performed
in what is, for most of the year, the fully working and
functional cider barn of Ross
Cider & Perry Company. Clementine Lovell had returned
to her home to Peterstow from Italy, where she studies opera,
as well as teaching languages and music and performing,
with her Italian friends to perform a 'Musica concerto d'Italia'
to a packed house on Sunday.
Soprano
Clementine, tenor, Nicolò Gabelli and pianist Romina
Vigne sang arias and performed scenes from operas by Mozart
and several Italian composers while local choir, the Branchline
Community Choir, conducted by Lizzy Rouse, from Ross-on-Wye
sang choral pieces from around the world.
Rather
than try to put how fantastic the concert was into words,
below are two 10 minute films, part one showing Clementine,
Nicolo, Romina and the Branchline Community Choir, the second
is a beautiful performance of the death of Mimi from Puccini's
La Boheme. Watch them - even if you are not particularly
a fan of opera. You will be absolutely amazed at the talent
of a local musician, most definitely destined to go far
in her field, and by that of both Nicolò and Romina
from Italy and the Branchline Choir.
