Well,
I do believe you were warned in the last issue of Wyenot
News that you may see a lot of strangely dressed cyclists
on the loose on Sunday, so it will come as no surprise that
Ozzy and Gary and their friends' latest fund-raising venture
for Acorns was as entertaining as promised. After leaving
the Man of Ross Inn on Sunday morning the crazy crew rode
through the lanes of Herefordshire to the Harp at Hoarwithy
for lunch.
En
route, however, Elvis (Ian Philips) and his partner in crime's
tandem suffered a puncture. A passing lady exclaimed, 'This
is the first time I've ever seen Elvis fixing a puncture
at Hoarwithy!' Once the puncture was repaired, they resumed
their journey back to the Man of Ross, not only for a well
earned drink and barbecue, but also to witness the next
hair brained scheme, the ceremonious shaving of Scotty the
Brave!
Steve
'Scotty' Ellis had, probably whilst under the influence,
volunteered to have his long curly locks and beard shaved
off to raise even more money and now, the group are pleased
to be on target to reach their goal of £10,000. Before
this latest escapade, £5,100 had been raised by holding
various events and it was estimated that between £1,500
and £2,000 would have been raised on Sunday. Phil
Compton was sponsored £570 of this for the bike ride
and Scotty, £500 for baldly going where a few others
have gone before him.
The
date for the charity football match against Aston Villa
Veterans has been set and will take place at the John Kyrle
High School on 10th October with a 2:30pm kick off. Admission
to the match will be by programme. For further information
about the match, please contact Ozzy on 07920819387 or Gary
on 07738999278.
