husband of Rosemary Thomas has been paying tribute following
her death at the weekend. Rosemary was a pedestrian crossing
the road when she was struck by a car in Goodrich, near
Ross-on-Wye at around 9.00pm on Friday evening (3rd September).
year old Rosemary, from Leckhampton in Cheltenham was taken
to Hereford Hospital but sadly died during the early hours
of Saturday morning.
known as Rose had been married to Ray Thomas for 52 years.
In a statement, issued by Gloucestershire police, Ray said:
'Rose was a lovely, kind person who never had a bad word
to say about anyone. She was always happy and loved by everyone
who knew her.'
in 1938, Rosemary had two older sisters and lived in Bourton
on the Hill. She moved to Cheltenham in 1954 where she met
Ray and they were married at St Paul's Church in Cheltenham
said, 'Rose and I love to see all our friends and family,
we have lots of nieces and nephews and now great-nieces
and great-nephews. We also have family in South Africa and
Australia and she was good at keeping in touch with them
and Ray also have six Godchildren, Paul Davis, John Thomas,
Robert Griffiths, Jonathan Bond, Rebecca Griffiths and Megan
was a very happy and contented person', added Ray. 'She
loved being in the garden, we loved walking, we would always
walk in to Cheltenham and walk to Bath Road to do our shopping.
Rose had had a fantastic day on Friday; we had been at a
wedding reception where we met with lots of old friends
and family. She spent the day chatting and laughing like
she always did.'
just want people to know that Rose didn't suffer, she was
laughing and joking before it happened, she was smiling
right up until the end, that sums up my Rose.'
funeral is being held at Cheltenham Crematorium on Thursday,
16th September at 2.00pm, then afterwards at Churchdown
