Ross 2nds opened their league account on Saturday with a
trip to Ledbury, however on a cold, sunny afternoon Ledbury
were just too streetwise and eventually ran out comfortable
25 - 5 winners.
young Ross side started well, with Mike and William putting
in some big hits on the Ledbury forwards. However, Ross
were unable to take advantage of this good work and halfway
through the first half, it was Ledbury who opened the scoring
with a try wide out on the left. This was converted by the
Ledbury outside half and another penalty 10 minutes later,
saw Ledbury go in at half time 10-0 ahead.
downhill in the second half, Ross started well. Tim Chaney
and Billybob were looking dangerous on the ball, but once
again they could not find that killer pass or player in
support to convert this good work into points. Ledbury punished
them early in the fourth quarter with two quick tries, putting
the game out of Rossís reach. Ross did rally late on and
some good line-out work from Rob Jode and Richard Russell,
saw second row, William crash over to score, giving a final
score of 24 - 5 to Ledbury.
Walford timber man of the match was debutant William.
Saturday, 2nd October Ross travel to Bromsgrove for another
away league encounter. The bus leaves Ross at 12.45pm.
