Gunners All Stars certainly met their match on Sunday afternoon
when they played football against the Aston Villa Old Stars
at the John Kyrle High School. Lots of people turned up
to watch this long awaited event which came about when Steve
'Ozzy' Bond, Gary Davies and friends decided to raise money
for Acorns Children's Hospice. The
local side have held lots of fund raising events for Acorns
over the past ten months, culminating in the Match of the
Day on Sunday.
the game, which was kicked off by Ross Town Mayor, Councillor
Jo Lane, the Aston Villa side ran coaching sessions for
some of the junior football sides and were happy to sign
autographs for them too. After having seen some of the game
it seems that the two sides were pretty evenly matched and
the event ended in a 6-6 draw.
details of the charity match will be published in the next
issue of Wyenot News but for now, some of the highlights
of the match can be seen in this week's WNTV programme,
Week in Moving Pictures'.
