SCENES FROM 'MOODS OF THE RIVER WYE'...................

With autumn making a scenic debut on Monday (and disappearing again for the foreseeable future on Tuesday) I thought followers of our river series in 'The Week in Moving Pictures' might like to see a few still photographs from this week's programme.

Sunrise on Monday was particularly beautiful by the River Wye in Ross with good river levels, frost on the ground and mist on the water making for some spectacular sights. On the evening before, I left a camera out filming, hoping to catch the post full moon over the river but two things stopped that. By the time the moon entered the scene, the lens on the camera frosted over and the low temperature caused the camera battery to fade after 4,000 shots at 9 second intervals.

May I take this opportunity to remind Herefordshire Council that the sundial on Wilton Bridge will need changing from British Summer Time back to Greenwich Mean Time at 2.00 am on Sunday. A chance for some overtime plus an unsociable hours bonus? :)

The planet Jupiter is the only body visible in the night sky at this exposure, which was right for the bridge scene.

As the post full moon enters the scene, frost forms on the camera lens.
