Ross were unable to replicate their recent good home form
on to the road last Saturday and found themselves well beaten
by a well drilled and organized Frampton side. Defeat for
relegation rivals Brockworth however virtually ensure Gloucester
Premier rugby for Ross next season. It
seemed the long journey had not left the away team as Frampton
started strongly and some weak Ross tackling enabled Frampton
to get on the front foot from the whistle. They never relinquished
this in the first half and were able to run in five unanswered
tries and go in at half time 32-0 ahead.
At
this stage it looked as if Ross were in serious danger of
conceding a hundred points, however, some half time soul
searching at least ensured that the second half was a proper
full on contest. Ross may not have troubled the scorers
however they ensured that for the second half the home team
had to fight for every yard and piece of possession. This
saw Ross prevent the home team adding to their total until
the last 5 minutes, where two late scores detracted from
a much improved second half performance.
Ross
have a week off league action next Saturday, however they
will be travelling to Cinderford for the Quarter final of
the Forest Combination Cup on Friday, 1st April. Kick off
is at 7.30pm.
