The
talent of the students at the John Kyrle High School never
ceases to amaze me. When I visited the school's recent Art
& Design Technology Show, I was completely taken aback
by their innovative ideas and the quality of their finished
products. One item I saw, a beautifully made bathroom cabinet,
I would quite happily have paid handsomely for. Sadly, however,
that bathroom cabinet is destined to be hung; in the creator's
own bathroom.
The work from Textiles, Food Technology, Graphics, Resistant
Materials and Engineering showed the dedication, creativity
and hard work that all students from both GCSE and A-Level
have put into their designs. During the event, there was
even an opportunity to eat some of the exhibits as Sixth
Formers stirred up some delicious Italian food which was
given out by a number of Year 11 students.
Visitors
to the exhibition, including Ross-in-Bloom were very impressed
by the work on display and all involved agree that 2011
has been another successful year for the department. The
works selected by RiB will be put on display at the Market
House Visitor Centre in readiness for the heart of England
in Bloom Judges' visit.
Technology
teacher, James Morgan said, 'The students have, yet again,
been a credit to the school and have helped John Kyrle maintain
its excellent reputation for work in technology.'
You
can't argue with that!
