Following
a great start to the new academic year, the John Kyrle High
School held an open evening on Thursday 20th October to
enable year six students and their parents to see for themselves
the kind of excellent education they can expect from the
school. There were diplays from the various key stages in
each subject and visitors were also treated to gymnastics
and dance performances.
Upon
arrival, visitors were given a plan of the school, indicating
which rooms were open for viewing and a suggested route
was printed on the back to make finding their way around
the school even easier. Many students also acted as guides
and were happy to personally show people around the school's
many facilities.
After
a short while, the school bell sounded, and many poeple
packed into the Main Hall to hear Head Teacher, Mr. Nigel
Griffiths talk about the school, which now has Academy status.
When he had finished his address, half a dozen year 7 students
took to the podium, telling all how they were settling in,
how much they were enjoying their new school and how welcome
they have been made to feel. Mrs Trixie Williams also spoke
and the current Head Boy and Head Girl recounted how they
had felt when they began time at the John Kyrle High School.
Apart
from wonderful facilities such as the awesome music suite,
the John Kyrle High School boasts excellent staff and has
so much to offer its students, their parents and the local
community. I have been attending 'Open Evenings' for many
years now and the school jsut gets better and better.
