Norton
House is a beautiful and historic building, dating back to
the early 1500s where proprietors, Bill and Jayne Lapping make
every effort to ensure that their guests are not only comfortable
but that all of their requirements are met. Each of the three
double bedrooms, the 'Ross Room', 'Doward Room' and 'Monmouth
Room,' has its own bathroom. As well as television and tea and
coffee making facilities, many extras are in place for your comfort.
The beautiful lounge is an ideal place for guests to relax during
the evening and is made extra homely during the winter by a roaring
log fire.
In
the delightful dining room, with its oak beams, large old farmhouse
dresser and inglenook fireplace, guests can choose from an extensive
breakfast menu, which includes a choice of full English, Continental
or vegetarian, and even a specialist menu, which, given 24 hours
notice, includes items such as Kedgeree, Piperade, Fricassee of
Eggs, Baked Eggs in Tomatoes or Savoury Buckwheat Pancakes. Evening
meals, when ordered, are served by candlelight and oil lamp, creating
a truly romantic atmosphere.

Bill and Jayne
are very environmentally aware and incorporate this awareness
into the business as much as possible. Dogs are welcome to stay
by prior arrangement, (they have two dogs of their own) laundry
and drying facilities are also available, along with secure storage
for cycles and walking boots.
For the safety
and comfort of others, guests are asked not to smoke and we are
unable to accommodate children under the age of twelve years.
Norton House
is listed in the Michelin Guide and has a gold award from the
English Tourist Board. It is an ideal place to stay if you would
like to visit Symonds Yat, Goodrich
Castle or the Doward
Caves or take part in the many local activities such as fishing,
cycling, walking, canoeing or golf, to name but a few.
