Ross-on-Wye Post Cards - Page One

The old postcards of Ross-on-Wye on the following two pages were kindly sent to me by Susan Coulter of Los Angeles, California, who is researching the genealogy of the 'Marklove' side of her family, which possibly originates in Ross-on-Wye. If you are able to help in any way with her research, please email me and I will forward your message on. I think that they are lovely photographs! Goodrich Court, bottom photograph, is no longer there. The rumour goes that it was taken apart, the individual bricks numbered and shipped to America but this is not the case. It was sold to individual buyers in the early 1950s and some of the stone was used to construct the roads in the Merrivale area of Ross-on-Wye. Thank you to Margaret Wilce for the information. Margaret actually attended the sale with her father, who bought some beautiful pieces of carved wood. |
