Views of Ross from St Mary's Church Spire
|

|
In July 2001, the bell ringers of St. Mary's kindly allowed me to climb the spire and photograph the town from on high. However, the camera I used at the time, a Kodak digital, having taken thousands of photographs of Ross and been dropped more times than I can remember was well past its sell-by date and the results were rather out of focus. On 12 October 2002 I was passing the church again and heard the bells so I begged the Church Warden's wife's permission to climb the 14th century steps again in order to retake the photographs. Some of the results appear below. The originals taken with my Olympus SLR are 2240 x 1680 pixel with 16 million colours and are absolutely stunning but unfortunately I have had to much reduce them in both quality and size for the sake of this web site to make download time as fast as possible.. Click here if you would like to see the bells, photographed in 2000. Or here if you would like to see St. Mary's Church on the photographic map of Ross-on-Wye. Or here to see the night views.
