Views of Ross from St Mary's Church Spire 2004
On
Tuesday 9th March 2004, I returned to the bell tower of St. Mary's
Parish Church, Ross-on-Wye to make a later recording of the
bells. Whilst there, armed with a miner's lamp, I went up the
spire and took these photographs of the town from on high. It was
a bitterly cold and windy evening and standing in the dark on the
narrow footway - well let's just say it was a good job I was wearing
my brown corduroy trousers. Luckily, Roman Sadowski, who accompanied
me and carried my tripod gave me a countdown to the chiming of the
clock bells, so I was prepared for that shock and held on to prevent
myself from becoming a patch of strawberry jam on the Prospect below.
Thank you for that!
As
always - please enjoy the views. (And don't try this at home.) The
2002 daytime views are here.

trails are
visible due to the long exposure. It was actually almost total darkness
at the time of the shot. Ref: P3090661
