Elsewhere
on 'Wyenot', there is a page of views which were taken at and above
Weston-under-Penyard.
The page mentions a walk from Ross-on-Wye to Weston-under-Penyard
via the forest path and past the firing range. The views below were
taken from Tank Meadow, which is at the Ross-on-Wye end of this
same forest path.
At
the bottom of this page, I have included an old black and white
image which was loaned to me by Glyn Williams. It was taken from
a similar spot (a little further south) to the top picture and helped
inspire my walk. I'm not sure of the date it was taken but it is
probably circa 1965. It is now impossible to take the same view
due to the height of the trees and looking at the area of the river,
the trees along the bank now obscure the view of the water. What
is most striking to me though is how much more green field area
there was then. Today's view shows many more factories and housing
estates.
