Dave and Jacqui Newman would like to welcome you to The White Lion. Situated on the banks of the River Wye at Ross, the White Lion is a picturesque local inn with an interesting history and is noted for its spectacular river views. The White Lion has long been a favourite place to relax by both local people and tourists alike.

The White Lion's extensive and picturesque gardens reach right down to the river's edge and are a wonderful place to enjoy views of the river. It is a great spot to watch the local otters, nesting swans and other wildlife.

Accommodation at The White Lion comprises three rooms; a family room, a twin and a double room, all of which are en suite and tastefully furnished.

In the bar, a choice of real ales is always available, including Wye Valley, Old Hookey, London Pride and a guest ale, along with cider from Bulmers, Stowfords and the very local Broome Farm. During the winter months, a roaring open log fire will keep you warm whilst you enjoy your drink. The bar has a lovely atmosphere and is a great place to enjoy a meal. There is also a separate dining room on the ground floor which is a lovely venue for a dinner party or small celebration and is also suitable for those who don't wish to dine in the bar but cannot manage the stairs to the Old Gaol Restaurant.

The Old Gaol Restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy delicious cuisine. The majority of the dishes are made using local produce which you can enjoy in a non smoking environment. There is also a childrens' menu available. The Gaol Restaurant is so named because the building used to house prisoners awaiting trial at Wilton Court. Many features of it's history can still be seen, including prisoners' graffiti on the old oak beams.

The White Lion is just a ten minute walk from Ross-on-Wye town centre, so why not enjoy a beautiful riverside walk on your way to visit the the shops or the local market? Located just across the road is Wilton Castle, which is privately owned but can be viewed nicely from the outside public footpath. The current castle building dates from the thirteenth century but there has been a fort on the site since the reign of Stephen.
